Xochlquetzal represents the first of four stages of Aztec development,
a world of flowers, beauty and new awakening.
Xochiquetzal resided in a heavenly paradise of gardens
and fountains where she was attended by a host of deities, and entertained
by a retinue of musicians and acrobats who were also able to paint,
spin and weave to perfection.
The Aztecs also worshipped her as the goddess of
spinning.
As goddess of Love, Xochlquetzal was also his linked
with several other gods.
There is an uglier side to her nature, and as goddess
of the Underworld, she could also be destructive and dangerous.
